Is A Good Quality Bed Linen Solely Look At Number of Thread Counts ?

No doubt, a higher thread count is associated with being more softer, stronger and more luxurious. However, there is a misconception that a high thread count is totally synonymous with quality of the sheet. As the quality of the sheet can also be determined by the quality of the yarns, finishings and dying process.

For example, Luxez's Luxury Series is crafted by using 100% Ultra fine and long staple Cotton Sateen. It giving a silky soft finish which most luxury hotel or villa and B&B asked for. Thread count in general will be used to associate with the quality of the bed sheet, but it needs to combine with superior quality yarns, finishings and dying technique to complete the entire master-piece.

Microcotton (Cotton Mix) vs. 100% Cotton

What is Microcotton a.k.a Cotton Mix? Microcotton to tell that the fabric has a mix of 50% Cotton and 50% Microfibre (Man-Made Fibre). Both Microcotton and 100% Cotton remain the top two choice among hotels, villas and B&B Operators for two different reasons.

Microcotton, a blend of durable microfibre and luxurious cotton, it's preferred in hospitality industry due to it's relatively easy-care, meaning little to no ironing is necessary to still maintain a crisp finish. This fabric composition is known for being incredibly long-lasting, withstanding the rigours of repeated use, laundering and drying. No doubt it's a great choice for commercial use purpose.

For example, Luxez's Cotton Mix Series has benefits of maintaining it's luxury looks with relatively low maintenance in laundering, ironing and drying. At it's super durable which withstand repeated wash not less than 350 washes !!!

Cotton, on the other hand is often a popular choice due to it's luxury feels and benefits that follow. 100% Cotton linen is using all natural bred materials making it a great choice for guest with sensitive skin. It's also favoured due to its ability to retain its softness, breathability and durability wash after wash due to it's exceptional natual materials of the fabric.

However cotton also has a reputation of being relatively high maintenance in terms of laundering, drying and ironing time compared to microcotton.

Bed Linen Measurements

Due to variances of fabric and style, we carry some most common size like Super Single, Queen, King and Super King (Limited Models). Hospitality linen tends to be more generous in size, because most hotel bed dressing like to tuck in their duvet cover under mattress to create a tidiness and clean feel to guest first walk in their room. Thus, don't get shock if you find some of our duvet cover is way larger than retail measurement.

All natural fibre like Cotton is favoured for shrinkage when washing, therefore we try to accomodate this specifically in our sizing. High temperature and prolonged tumble dry will make fabric fibre shrink, try set your washing temperature between 40 - 60 degree celcius. Always remember do not overdry your linens.
